Take Immediate Action
If you're concerned about what you can do right now, take a screwdriver and switch your bedroom latch set with the locking one from your bathroom. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. In the morning, call a locksmith and have him install a deadbolt on your bedroom door as well as the other locks mentioned below.
A second thing you can do right now is to put your car keys beside your bed. If you hear a noise outside your home or hear someone trying to get into your house, just press the panic button for your car. Another tip: Put your cell phone charger in your bedroom. If a thug cuts your phone line, you'll still be able to call the police.
