According to police, officers responded to the 7000 block of Halifax Ave. around 5 p.m. after the homeowner called 911 to report a robbery. Officers learned that as many as four suspects had entered the home and were armed with handguns.

A SWAT team surrounded the home and called out the suspects. Two of the suspects immediately surrendered and the family also safely exited the house. A short time later, a third suspect surrendered.

The kicker?
Police say it’s unclear why the home was targeted, but they don’t believe it was random

If you don't know why they were there, how do you know it wasn't random?

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. -- Authorities are investigating after eight people were bound and robbed early Monday morning inside a Brooklyn Center home.

Around 4 a.m. Monday morning, four suspects entered an apartment on the 6600 block of Humboldt Avenue, duct taped eight people inside the residence and emptied their pockets.

Scary. Bound and helpless is not a situation I want to be in.

Update:
Reynolds tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS what makes the home invasion more disturbing, is the fact their police department is approximately 100 feet away from the apartment.

As many as five armed and masked intruders broke into a Brooklyn Center home Thursday night but fled before officers arrived, police said.

A less-than-one-minute response time is impressive. Good job BCPD.
Officers responded to the home within a minute of the [911] call, but by the time officers arrived, the robbers were gone, police said.

Good news:
No one was hurt.

And the possible circumstances:
Police said they are investigating the relationship between the suspects and victims and that this does not appear to be a random robbery attempt.
