An 18-year-old man twice convicted of burglarizing the St. Paul home of a woman he didn't know in 2011 is under arrest, suspected of returning to her home this week and raping the 65-year-old resident. Curtez Deshawn Graham was on furlough from the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Red Wing, a juvenile detention facility, when he cut off his GPS bracelet and went on the run Monday, said Art Coulson, Ramsey County spokesman. As law enforcement searched for Graham, they heard he might be armed with a gun, and the burglary victim was notified the man was on the loose, Coulson said.
A record of Minnesota home invasions. Consider it a warning, a cry of doomsday, or a call to self-defense, whichever you prefer.

A man tied up an 81-year-old woman during a St. Paul home invasion robbery today and it was at least seven hours before she was found with her hands and legs bound, police said. The woman was not injured.
The man apparently used a ruse to break into the woman's home in the Highland Park neighborhood, said Sgt. Paul Schnell, police spokesman.
The woman, who was not sexually assaulted, told police that early in the morning, before sunrise, she heard a noise near her front door in the 1100 block of St. Paul Avenue. Sunrise was 7:37 a.m. Monday.
When the woman went to check, she saw a man at the door. He said her neighbor's home was being broken into, and asked her to call police.

St. Paul police warn residents about home invasions

Don't let strangers in your home. It's just not worth it.

St. Paul police are warning today about a series of home invasion robberies, where force has been used to steal jewelry.
[snip]
The assailants used a ruse to gain entry — such as needing to use the phone or the bathroom; in one case, the suspect asked about an in-home daycare, Panos said. It wasn't clear from a report whether children were present at the daycare, he said.
Inside the home, the suspects have used physical force or pointed a handgun at victims before stealing jewelry they're wearing, Panos said. People have been left with minor injuries, he said.

The article does state that the police found no drugs in the home. I guess if you're victimized by robbers who are demanding drugs, you get the pleasure of having your place searched.

The incident happened about 1 a.m. Saturday in the first block of Nelson Street. A man knocked at the door and told the homeowner his car had broken down, he was cold and needed a phone to call his girlfriend to pick him up, a police report said.
"The homeowner reluctantly let him in the entryway," the report said. "He told him to stay at the door. The homeowner said he'd give him a ride."
When the homeowner went to get his keys, the man pulled out a gun and grabbed him.
